Design Desk two-day Adobe Photoshop CS4 for photographers workshop is offered once a month, and is tailored for the professional or avid amateur photographer. In class you will learn how to color correct and retouch your photographs whether they are scanned images or images from a digital camera. Design Desk uses only Adobe certified instructors.

Techniques covered include acquiring images from a scanner or digital camera, determining resolution, basic retouching and editing of portraits, color correcting images, and combining images. Some of the retouching techniques include taking glare off of glasses, softening backgrounds, removing dust and scratches, smoothing down fly-away hair, and fixing blemishes.

Areas of Concentration Include:

  • Using the editing tools to sharpen, blur, dodge, burn, saturate and desaturate
  • Enhancing facial features by increasing or decreasing exposure in given areas
  • Eliminating imperfections, scratches and dust in a portrait
  • Changing the focal point by subduing or blurring the background
  • Creating a sepia tone look
  • Simulating motion in a photo
  • Removing and replacing unwanted objects
  • Color correcting an image
  • Creating vignettes and silhouetting images
  • Creating a soften focus effect
  • Combining photos using layer masks
  • Changing the directional lighting
  • Reducing the film grain effect
